Becoming a nurse, in no way makes you subservient to any hospital, doctor or administrator.
You are in practice for yourself, your skills and as an advocate using all of your resources to help your patient.
You are responsible for every person that touches, talks to, affects in any way your patient. This includes the doctors, laboratory, registration, consultants and even family members.
Your argument is always patient health, safety and successful improving standards. The final word is yours, if you can show that someone else is affecting your patient in a negative way, even a doctor. And you are held accountable for that purpose every single day by everyone involved.
